Limmud International

Nearly 30 years ago, a small group of British Jewish educators set out to create a celebration of Jewish education. What they created – Limmud – has become one of the fastest growing phenomena of the Jewish world, one that is transforming how Jews gather and study in large numbers.

Inspired by this UK event, Limmud-Oz began in Sydney in 1999 – the first Limmud event outside the UK. It is now hosted alternately by the Sydney and Melbourne Jewish communities and numbers of participants continue to grow.

Over 10 years later, Limmud-Oz is just one of over 50 similar events under the umbrella of Limmud International , which is at the forefront of a revolution in global Jewish education and thinking, and is creating a learned, open, dynamic and respectful community. Limmud worldwide attracts over 32,000 people annually and continues to see unprecedented growth, even while more traditional community institutions suffer from decreasing numbers.

One of the newest members of the Limmud International family is Limmud Arava in Israel. Limmud-Oz has a special relationship with Limmud Arava as part of Partnership 2000 and we are excited to support their activities.
