SHALOM │ SYDNEY JEWISH WRITERS FESTIVAL 2018

Keep Sunday 26 August free for a day that celebrates all things books with a diverse range of international guests, local talent and timeless tales of survival and triumph.

Some noteworthy highlights include:

  • British writer, journalist, broadcaster and former barrister Afua Hirsch (Brit(ish): On Race, Identity and Belonging)
  • A panel on Fictionalising the Holocaust with Heather Morris (The Tattooist of Auschwitz), Lauren Chater (The Lace Weaver), Kirsty Manning (The Jade Lily).
  • Journalist and columnist Peter FitzSimons talking about Monash’s Masterpiece, his latest historical work which brings us a uniquely Australian insight into the famous Battle of Hamel.
  • Ros Ben-Moshe in a session entitled Where it all Begins: Laughing at Adversity. Ros’s approach to life is that love, laughter and mindfulness can help us overcome all types of adversity.

The program includes many more diverse and talented authors, as well as a writer’s workshop. You can book a full day pass or just single sessions.

Opening Night will take place on  Thursday 23 August at Bondi Pavilion and will feature renowned Russian-American journalist, author, translator and activist Masha Gessen, in conversation with Ellen Fanning, journalist and host of ABC’s The Drum.
