About Limmud Oz, Sydney’s Festival of Jewish Ideas

Limmud is one of the largest, most diverse and dynamic events in the Sydney Jewish community. It’s an immersive 3-days filled with numerous choices – hands-on workshops, revealing interviews, moving performances, powerful talks and more – delivered by presenters from Australia and around the world. Be part of interesting conversations, ideas, culture, diversity and meet people from varying backgrounds and affiliations. There’s a place for everyone at Limmud Oz.

Limmud is a global network and has events in 80+ countries and Limmud events take place in Sydney every year. This year promises to be enriching, exciting and unexpected!

So, how does it work?

We’ve built a program which has multiple sessions every hour. If you feel like hearing a talk on the latest events taking place in the Middle East, or are more in the mood for a session on the arts, there’s guaranteed to be something on for you. Sessions are run by educators, artists, academics, performers, experts and enthusiasts. Choose what you go to and when.

We also have a dedicated volunteer team designing an exciting program for kids.

Who goes to Limmud Oz?

Left, right, or somewhere in between. Religious, secular, traditional or Jewish by choice. Four year olds, uni students, families and great-grandparents. Regardless of your age, affiliation or Jewish background, Limmud Oz is an inclusive, inter-generational, open and respectful community. Everyone is a student, and everyone can be a teacher.

Thank you for your interest in presenting at Limmud Oz 2019. Sydney’s Festival of Jewish Ideas is as interesting, inspiring and colourful as its presenters – we can’t wait to see what you’d like to share with us this year!

Our volunteer programming team, responsible for curating a rich, diverse program across many themes, will review applications. Please complete all the mandatory fields in this form by 31 March 2019 and we will contact you by 15 April 2019 to inform you whether your session/s will be included in the Limmud Oz 2019 program. If your session/s is not included in our program, you will be offered a full refund or the opportunity to upgrade to a participant ticket.

Presenter application fee
Volunteerism and participation are key features of Limmud and we deeply appreciate how generous presenters are with their time and talent. Limmud Oz is also a non-profit program which relies on donations and application fees. In recognition of the contribution presenters make to Limmud, we ask that presenters pay a nominal financial contribution of $50 ($30 for concession card holders and under 30s – use promo code CONCESSION at checkout) which also offers them full access to the dynamic 3-day festival beyond their presenting times. This is significantly discounted from the full fee which is over $200.

Financial support
We believe that no one should miss out on Limmud due to financial difficulties and will do our utmost to make your participation possible. Enquiries about assistance will be managed in a discreet and confidential manner. Please contact Shalom Limmud Director, Anna Stern anna@shalom.edu.au /  (02) 9381 4000.
